The Problem
The U.S. legal immigration process is long and complicated. Access to information, community, and legal resources are limited, scattered, and expensive.
The Solution
Flock centralizes the immigration process by providing online resources, connecting prospective immigrants with lawyers, and fostering a supportive community built on shared experiences.
THe PROBLEM
I Can't Get My Green Card!
The green card process is confusing and lengthy, leaving many feeling hopeless as they navigate a broken system, where each step presents new opportunities for mistakes and delays.
What Already Exists?
Interviews revealed that helpful resources and features are available, but they remain inaccessible due to high costs, difficulty in locating them, and confusing presentation.
Defining Brand Identity
While developing our product's features, we created a mood board to establish the brand's foundation...
...which guided the creation of a style guide, logo, and tagline.
Designing For Our Audience
We tested two landing pages with contrasting styles using Google Analytics to see if a professional or familiar approach better aligned with our solution...
...while also identifying which countries engaged most with immigration process support.
THE SOLUTION
Empower Prospective Immigrants!
We designed features to create a centralized resource hub, informed by insights from those with firsthand experience and immigration experts.
The Quest For Funding
We’ve continued iterating on our product, winning pitch competitions and being accepted into incubators like Blackstone Launchpad and StartR Inclusion+Impact. Our goal is to develop our startup further to positively impact the community.
Looking ahead, we've documented our growth model and budget plan, launched a Kickstarter, and are running ads to drive further development.
THE Reflection
Strategic Planning & Empathy
With complex issues like immigration, thorough research and understanding are essential. Solutions must be carefully planned and executed. Working closely with those directly affected and consulting experts, combined with humanity-centered design, ensures solutions are relevant and effectively meet user needs.

My key takeaway: Engage directly with those experiencing the problem, designing with the community.
