Assembly
The Problem
College students' social lives are suffering during the pandemic due to a lack of accessible, student-driven platforms for on-campus events.
The Solution
Assembly combines student-focused features with sleek design, offering a centralized platform for organizing and discovering events, tailored to college communities with social media-style functionality.
THe PROBLEM
I Feel Disconnected From My Campus!
Remote learning leaves students feeling isolated and seeking ways to connect with peers and school organizations. Without clear direction, this becomes a significant barrier.
Competitive Landscape Review
We identified existing platforms to understand their successes, failures, and our market opportunity.
Who are the Stakeholders?
College students wanted better visibility of opportunities, while club/event organizers needed exposure. Our key focus was facilitating their interaction by designing for both perspectives.
Defining Core Features
Based on ongoing interviews, we determined the main features that would best address their needs.
Creating Our Design System
We developed a cohesive style and brand identity through ideation and moodboarding.
THE SOLUTION
Increase Student Engagement!
Our app was designed to help users discover new hobbies, stay engaged with existing ones, and connect with like-minded people, bridging the gap from isolation to a reconnected university life.
Cash In & Branch Out!
This product delivered value to diverse user groups, demonstrating strong growth potential as adoption increased.

Student interest in continued development inspired us to explore expanding to other campuses, strategies for long-term engagement, and new features to support monetization.
THE Reflection
Engagement & Entrepreneurship
Designing for personal problems made empathy easier, but real-world projects demand more time for research and user engagement. Social platforms rely on user adoption, and without users, the product fails. We should have prioritized monetization and marketing strategies earlier.

My key takeaway: Don’t wait to engage with users or test your prototype, early and frequent feedback is crucial.
